New donation by OKTA for establishment of a Day Care Center for children with cerebral palsy
Within the framework of the primary school 11-ti Oktomvri, a Day care center for children with cerebral palsy will be established soon, which will accommodate and provide care for 40 children of different ages from the whole country. The facility, which is expected to be completed by the end of August, will consist of 11 rooms, among which there are rooms for children in kindergarten, special rooms for physical therapy, defectology specialist, speech therapist, psychologist, accessible ramp, kitchen, conference room etc. At the center, children with cerebral palsy will receive the necessary help for mitigation of symptoms of the disease, and it will also represent support for their families who will have the opportunity to leave their children in the hands of professionals on a daily basis.
“With the assistance that OKTA provides for the reconstruction of this day center, we hope to make available a new place for care for children with cerebral palsy, which will offer adequate care and therapy, as well as daily support for their parents. There are many groups of citizens who need help in order to meet the everyday challenges, but taking into account the number of children with cerebral palsy and the absence of an appropriate center, we considered that they currently have the priority in getting our support and full attention,” stated Mr. Ioannis Geroulanos, Chief Executive Officer of OKTA AD – Skopje. Mr. Geroulanos also added that he hoped their charitable activity would encourage other companies to engage in the implementation of this project.
The daily center will be a temporary solution during the construction of the object in the settlement Kapistec, after which the daily center will also be relocated. The facility at the elementary school 11-ti Oktomvri, which will be used for two years, will then be redesigned into a kindergarten, which will increase the capacity for accommodation of preschool children in this region.
The event was attended by Mila Carovska, Minister of Labor and Social Policy, the Mayor of the Municipality of Center, Andrej Zhernovski as well as representatives of the Association of Parents of Children with cerebral palsy.
