New investment by OKTA for more effective control and guarantee of fuel quality
Skopje, 30.09.2024 – OKTA has invested in the digitization of the engines which are unique in the country for testing cetane and octane numbers that are located in the company's laboratory. This is the first accredited laboratory for this type of testing in the country that works according to reference methods defined in the highest European, American and domestic standards.
The first equipment that received a new modern digital panel is the engine for testing the quality of diesel fuels, i.e. for the Cetane number parameter. With digitalization, many of the functions of this laboratory engine are automated. In this way, the possibility of human error is reduced and even more precise testing and more detailed real-time analysis of the process and rate of combustion of diesel fuel is possible, which on the other hand has a great impact on the overall performance and safety of the engines in vehicles using this type of oil derivative, but also for the environment.
The latest investment in the digitization of equipment in the OKTA laboratory was greeted by the Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources Sanja Božinovska, as well as representatives of the Bureau of Metrology, the Accreditation Institute, the Customs Laboratory and others, who attended the official presentation of the first digitized laboratory engine, for testing the quality of diesel fuels in the country.
„With such investments in the digitalization of the examination and control system, OKTA confirms its efforts and continuous commitment to maintaining the highest standard in operations, especially when it comes to the quality of the fuels we offer on the domestic and other neighboring export markets. At the same time, in this way, we contribute and highlight the importance of regular fuel quality control at all petrol stations in the country, which is especially important for consumers given that quality and quantity of the fuels used in their vehicles is vital for the engine, but what is most important, is essential for the environment and decreased air pollution in general“ - said the CEO of OKTA, Dimitrios Paschos.
In the next phase, OKTA plans to digitize the laboratory engine with which tests and analyzes of the quality and performance of Eurosuper petroleum products are performed, i.e. for determining the octane number of gasoline.
In 2006 OKTA’s laboratory received its first accreditation certificate, which made it the first accredited laboratory in the country. With its modern equipment, and 54 accredited methods, detailed tests and analyzes of different types of fuels are carried out, such as: Eurosuper of 95, 98 and 100 octane, Eurodiesel, extra light heating oil, fuel oil, liquid petroleum gas and jet fuel.
The company's commitment to control the quality and quantity of fuel at gas stations with the OKTA brand is confirmed by the implementation of the "Guarantee Program" for 9 years in a row, through which the quality and quantity of fuels at petrol stations with the OKTA brand are examined and checked. Within the framework of this Program, specially trained team in cooperation with the Mechanical Faculty, performs unannounced and regular checks on the quality and quantity of the fuel sold at OKTA retail network.
In addition, the OKTA laboratory tests fuel samples of other importers, distributors and sellers of fuels from the country and abroad, of manufacturers and importers of vehicles, as well as for the needs of state institutions, such as the Customs Administration, the State market inspectorate and others.
