OKTA and UKIM signed a Memorandum for awarding scholarships
(Skopje, 23.08.2019) – For a third consecutive year, OKTA will award full scholarships for post-graduate studies to ten students at UKIM. The awarding of the scholarships will be implemented in accordance to the Memorandum of cooperation signed today between the company and “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” University of Skopje. The main goal of OKTA through this activity is to encourage successful and ambitious students to upgrade their knowledge in globally perspective areas.
“We are happy that this activity has become a tradition having in mind that OKTA over a three-year period supported a total of 30 students at UKIM. In this hectic days that we are living in, a donation of 10 scholarships might go for “small news” of the day. However, we do believe that if we succeed to help 10 young people and if we manage to make their lives a little bit easier and more challenging, then the signing of the Memorandum with UKIM is of greater importance to us. For OKTA, this is good news. Please also note that in the future, as a company, we remain dedicated in supporting talented and ambitious young people in the country”, said Ioannis Geroulanos, Chief Executive Officer of OKTA.
The scholarships are intended for students from five faculties at UKIM. The company will award two scholarships to students on each of the following faculties: Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics - Institute of Chemistry, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, FEEIT and Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy. According to the terms and criteria defined in this memorandum, eligible candidates are students who will apply for the second cycle of one-year studies for the academic year 2019/2020, in the first enrollment period at the ongoing public call of UKIM.
„The cooperation with the business sector on local, regional, national and international level, the needs of relation between the University and the society, and in particular the connection with the economic factors is one of the strategic goals of our University, yet at the same time a challenge we encounter not only on the national, but on the joint European market of education, labor and innovation as well”, stated Prof. Dr. Nikola Jankulovski, Rector of UKIM.
With signing the Memorandum, the long-standing cooperation between the University and OKTA continues, that was demonstrated through the implementation of the regular internship program, as well as the support of the company for various activities related to the promotion of the teaching process at the oldest University in the country.
