OKTA continues to implement donation projects in renewable energy sources

Скопје, 23.07.2024 OKTA AD - Skopje announces several donations in photovoltaic power plants this year too, directly promoting the green transition in the country. By the end of the year, the company will install photovoltaic systems at the sport center "Marko Božinovski" in the Municipality of Aerodrom in Skopje, at the kindergarten "Detska Radost" in the Municipality of Gevgelija, and at the primary school "St. Cyril and Methodius" in the Municipality of Veles.

Through these donation projects, OKTA will provide photovoltaic capacities with a total power of approximately 90 kW, which will significantly satisfy the annual electricity consumption of the facilities. Additionally, the 3 photovoltaic plants will enable annual production of about 113.000 kWh of renewable energy, avoiding carbon dioxide emission of approximately 54 tons annually. More than 2,800 children and pupils spend time in these three public institutions, and around 2,000 pupils and young people visit the "Marko Božinovski" sports hall located at the Municipal school "Lazo Angelovski" throughout the year.

"With the donations of the photovoltaic systems, we reaffirm our commitment to increasing the share of renewable energy sources and accelerating the energy transition that leads towards greater energy independence. It is crucial for us that our partners are public institutions where children and youth spend most of their time. These donations will not only help reduce carbon dioxide emissions and promote a more sustainable future, but will also educate children about the importance of this process for both the community and the environment", said Dimitrios Paschos, CEO of OKTA.

As part of its donor investment strategy in "green" energy, last year OKTA donated three photovoltaic plants for educational institutions in the country. At the kindergarten "Pepelashka" in the Municipality of Center in Skopje, the company donated a photovoltaic system installed on the roof of the building with a capacity of 20.5 kW. Additionally, at the municipal secondary economic school "St. Cyril and Methodius" in Ohrid, a photovoltaic system with a capacity of 21.8 kW was installed, providing energy for a significant part of the school's consumption. In 2023, a photovoltaic system was also installed at the primary school "Goce Delčev" in the municipality of Ilinden with a total installed capacity of 15 kW.

In the second half of 2024, OKTA is expected to launch a 12 MW photovoltaic plant located on the company’s premises, as one of the country's largest PV projects. Starting from 2018 until now, the company has installed five photovoltaic systems with a total capacity of 611 kW, including installations at business partners' facilities.
