OKTA Donates Photovoltaic Traffic Signs to Increase Student Safety in the Municipality of Centar
Skopje, 12.11.2024 – A new initiative by OKTA as part of its long-term socially responsible platform "WATCH OUT", aimed at raising public awareness for greater traffic safety. This time, the company donated six photovoltaic traffic signs, which have been installed at strategic locations in the Municipality of Centar, specifically near five primary schools: "Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi", "Kočo Racin", "Kole Nedelkovski", "11th October", and "St. Cyril and Methodius".
"Children’s safety is of the utmost importance in any society. We believe that by installing photovoltaic traffic signs near primary schools, we contribute to a safer environment not only for the young pedestrians but also for the other traffic users. Creating a sustainable traffic culture requires continuous and collective action. We are grateful for the dedicated cooperation with the Municipality of Centar, the National Road Safety Council (RSPB), and the Ministry of Interior Affairs (MVR), whose participation was crucial for the realization of this year’s activities and for achieving the goals of the “I Watch out", said Dimitrios Paschos, CEO of OKTA.
Additionally, during November 2024, OKTA, in cooperation with the National Road Safety Council (RSPB) and the Ministry of Interior Affairs (MVR), is organizing educational workshops for first graders in the Municipality of Centar on the topic "Rules for Little Pedestrians". The goal of these workshops is to introduce the youngest road users to the basic rules for safe participation in traffic.
"We are truly happy that our collaboration with OKTA has brought us a real partner in traffic safety in Centar, especially in ensuring the safety of the youngest. Our municipality is completely urbanized, and the challenges for young pedestrians are significant and numerous. Through these activities, OKTA proves its positive approach to the community, and we encourage other companies to follow its example"said Goran Gerasimovski, Mayor of the Municipality of Centar.
With this initiative, OKTA reaffirms its social responsibility and commitment to greater road safety, continuing its efforts to support and educate all road participants.
The " WATCH OUT" platform was launched by OKTA in 2017. Over the past seven years, the company has carried out numerous initiatives and educational activities to raise awareness about road safety, focusing on the most common traffic risks such as driving under the influence of alcohol, wearing helmets for motorcyclists, using seat belts, and speed limits. Additionally, OKTA has made donations for traffic light control mechanisms, sound signaling devices for pedestrian crossings, traffic polygons, reflective accessories, as well as equipment for cyclists and motorcyclists.
For the platform, the company received recognition for Best National Corporate Social Responsibility Practice from the Ministry of Economy. More information on the activities carried out under the " WATCH OUT" platform can be found here.
