OKTA will donate solar charger and bike parking to UKIM - The competition for preparing of preliminary project is announced



Skopje - 22.03.2023 – On the occasion of OKTA's 45th anniversary and as part of the long-term socially responsible platform #JasVnimavam, the company in cooperation with the Career Center at the University "St. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje, announces a prize competition for preparation of a preliminary project for an innovative solution for photovoltaic charger and parking for bicycles and electric scooters. The awarded project will be constructed at the campus of UKIM, as a donation from OKTA.

The competition is intended for teams composed of students from the Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies, Faculty of Civil Engineering, and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, that need to submit the complete applications for participation to the Career Center of UKIM latest by April 12, 2023. More details regarding the open competition, such as the rules of participation, the guidelines for the development of the project, the application form and other necessary information for the interested teams, are published on the websites of both OKTA and UKIM.


“Marking its 45th jubilee, this year OKTA will undertake a series of socially responsible activities related to the company's strategy for energy transformation and sustainable development. In that context and function is this prize competition, whereat students from the respective facilities are invited to take participation. Their creativity and knowledge will be crucial in the construction of this solar charger and bicycle parking, that ОКТА will donate to UKIM" - said Marija Stavreva, CSR and Communication Manager at OKTA.


The teams that will apply at the competition within the stipulated deadline, will have the task to prepare and submit their preliminary projects no later than May 31, 2023. The proposed innovative solution should contain a photovoltaic system for charging electric bicycles, scooters and other electronic devices, as well as a space whereat users will be able to rest and relax.


"On behalf of the Career Center of UKIM, I would like to express my gratitude to OKTA for this extremely useful project and at the same time to invite all the students from UKIM's technical faculties to take advantage of this opportunity and demonstrate their teamwork skills, knowledge acquired during studies and their creativity", says Professor PhD. Jasmina Tonic Ribarska, Head of the Career Center at UKIM.


The donation of the photovoltaic charger and bike parking is part of OKTA's socially responsible platform, #JasVnimavam, whose main goal is to encourage a higher social awareness for personal and collective traffic safety. In 2017, this platform was declared the best national socially responsible practice, after which the company continued to implement numerous activities dedicated to traffic safety.
As part of the celebration of OKTA's 45th anniversary, this year numerous projects and donations related to the company's commitment to sustainable development and transformation towards renewable energy sources are planned.
