THE WINNING SOLUTION FOR A SOLAR CHARGER AND BICYCLE PARKING WHICH OKTA WILL DONATE TO UKIM HAS BEEN SELECTED
Skopje, 14/07/2023 - The competition for selection of an idea solution for a solar charger and bicycle parking, which was organized by OKTA and in cooperation with the Career Center at UKIM, has ended. The team consisting of Ivana Popovska from Faculty of Electrical Engineering & Information Technologies – Skopje and Elena Noveska from the Faculty of Architecture - Skopje, is the winner of this competition and will be awarded with 62,000 MKD by OKTA. The award-winning project was one of 11 received conceptual solutions, in which development a total of 30 students from the technical faculties at UKIM were involved.
The winning conceptual solution represents an innovative combination of a bicycle parking lot, a photovoltaic system for charging electric bicycles, scooters and other electronic devices, as well as a rest and relaxation space. The funds for full implementation of this project, which will be built at a suitable location within the UKIM campus, were donated by OKTA, on the occasion of the company's 45th anniversary.
„The number of registered teams and submitted conceptual solutions confirm that with this project we managed to stimulate the creativity of a large number of young professionals in finding modern solutions that improve the quality of urban living and that are sustainable, because they highlight the importance of energy from renewable sources. At the same time, this project is a continuation of the company's strategic decision to invest in sustainable development and energy transformation, but also a confirmation of our continuous socially responsible activities aimed at raising public and individual awareness of traffic safety“ - stated Marija Stavreva, CSR and Communication Manager in OKTA AD - Skopje.
This activity for construction of a solar charger and a parking for bicycles and electric scooters is realized by OKTA and in cooperation with the Career Center at the University „ St. Cyril and Methodius“ in Skopje.
„Dedication of the students during realization of the projects that was submitted within this competition is another indicator of applied knowledge and teamwork possessed by the students of the technical faculties from the largest university in our country, the University of „St. Cyril and Methodius“ in Skopje. This entire project, which also contains a significant socially responsible component, represents an excellent example of successful cooperation between the academic and business communities, which should be followed by other stakeholders in society“ - said professor Dr. Jasmina Tonic Ribarska, head at the Career Center at UKIM.
This is just one of the planned donations on the occasion of OKTA's 45th anniversary, which is in line with the company's transformation process towards green energy, and is an addition to OKTA's multi-year socially responsible platform, #IWatch Out, intended to strengthen awareness of greater personal and collective traffic safety.
